Standard Bank of SA - “Annual Well-being Day”: 6 October 2005

FAVOR SA together with SANCA (W.Cape) was invited to put up an information stand at the Standard Bank’s Western Cape regional head office on Cape Town’s Foreshore, on the occasion of the bank’s annual Wellbeing Day. The event invites Standard Bank management, workers and suppliers to take up the challenge of achieving optimal health and a lifestyle that promotes wellness. A representative of Bankmed summed up the message when she said,
“Many South Africans are awakening to the simple fact that good health is not incidental, but largely the result of sensible living.”

One of the points that was raised again and again, is that stress is becoming the norm rather than the exception in our daily lives. The antidote for stress is relaxation - but there is often no time - or no facilities - to allow a daily unwinding. Therefore people seek instant relaxation in the form of recreational drinking, smoking, gambling, shopping - and sometimes drugs. The dangers of addiction therefore, are far higher in today’s society and workplace than ever before.
